ALA fellowship Award

ALA Fellowships complements the Australian Leadership Award Scholarships, providing opportunities to officials who cannot leave their positions for extended periods. ALA Fellowships is a highly flexible programme offering professional development opportunities.

A broad cross section of Australian society engages with the Asia Pacific region at government, business, professional and community levels. The ALAF Program offers Australian organisations, from all sectors, the opportunity to deepen and broaden their links with leaders and professionals in the Asia Pacific region.

Grant funding of up to AUD35,000 per fellow for ALAF Program activities is offered on a competitive basis to Australian organisations to host leaders or mid-career professionals from the Asia-Pacific region for short-term specialised research, leadership training or professional attachments, delivered in Australia.

The grant can include:

  • Return economy airfare
  • Accommodation and living expenses
  • Medical insurance costs when in Australia
  • In-Australia transport in respect of approved activities
  • Short course costs
  • Programme Overhead Fee

Co-contribution is an important principle in the ALAF Program. Grant funding of selected Fellows contributes to airfares, living costs and approved activities related to the Fellowship placement.  Host organisations are expected to cover administrative costs .
