Each year Mongolian Ministries are assessed as part of an annual strategic review to participate in the ADS Category 1 Scholarships. Selected Ministries are able to drive change in development outcome by obtaining access for Masters degrees in selected Australian universities. The current list of Ministries able to participate in the scheme are listed below.

  • Cabinet Secretariat of the Government of Mongolia,
  • Civil Service Council,
  • Ministry of Defense,
  • Ministry of Education,
  • Culture and Science,
  • Ministry of Finance,
  • Ministry of Food & Agriculture and Light Industry,
  • Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade,
  • Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy,
  • Ministry of Health, 
  • Ministry of Justice and Home Affairs, 
  • Ministry of Nature,
  • Environment and Tourism,
  • Ministry of Roads,
  • Transportation,
  • Construction and Urban Development,
  • Ministry of Social Welfare and Labour,
  • the offices of the Administration of the Supreme Court,
  • Parliament Secretariat,
  • the President,
  • Prime Minister of Mongolia,
  • First Deputy Premier,
  • Deputy Premier and staff of their associated agencies;       

If yes, you are eligible for the Australian Development Scholarship Category 1. Up to 21 scholarships are available under Category 1. The scholarships will be awarded on the capacity building needs identified in ministry Human Resource Development plans.

Up to 7 scholarships are available under Category 2, on a competitive basis, for Masters programs covering the following target fields of study:

  • Mining engineering,
  • Construction engineering,
  • Mining,
  • Energy and natural resources law,
  • Resource economics,
  • Renewable energy,
  • Coal technology,
  • Nanotechnology,
  • Biotechnology,
  • Environmental studies relating to resource development,
  • Agricultural economics and/or marketing,
  • Infectious plant diseases,
  • Pasture management,
  • Actuarial studies,
  • Non-bank financial regulation,
  • Epidemiology and public health,
  • Gender issues and Women development studies,
  • Human rights,
  • Reproductive health and Methodologies for teaching English as a foreign language.

 

Selection Criteria for Category 1

Candidates will be selected on the:

  • Proposal's support for the nominating Ministry’s training needs.
  • Ranking of the relevance to the Ministry of the proposed field of study and Action Plan.
  • Employee’s current position/responsibilities to the proposed field of study/Action Plan.
  • Academic achievements and potential to succeed in Australian higher education courses.
  • IT literacy skills in word processing and use of the Internet (Based on self evaluation in the EOI).

Selection Criteria for Category 2

Candidates will be selected on the:

  • Masters degree in the specified fields of study.
  • Study plans of proposed fields/sub-fields of study.
  • Relationship between the field of study and workplace needs (the significance of the
    Action Plan).
  • Awareness of differences between Mongolian and Australian study cultures.
  • Commitment to meeting the needs of the employer for at least two years.
